Field Trip to Phillippi Estates and Farmer's Market

October 15, 2025

Four of our members enjoyed a tour of the mansion and the farm house, strolled the grounds, visited the farmer's market and enjoyed a brown bag lunch in the gazebo. We had a delightful time and after trading painting and pigment tips, we all went home inspired.


2nd Annual Lunch Meet n' Greet at Florida Watercolor Society's Annual Convention

We had a great turnout of Suncoast members at the FWS Convention! It was so fun to see everyone there... even if we didn't quite manage to all get together in one place at one time. We're looking forward to our 3rd Annual lunch gathering at the 2026 FWS Convention, which will be close to home in Bradenton.


Brown Bag Lunch and Show and Tell

We had 10 members + a guest (the photographer) at the July 15th Brown Bag Lunch with Show and Tellgraciously hosted by Wendell Graham, her husband Tom McLaughlin and their pup Ms. Peekah. Much fun was had by all! Many thanks for the hospitality and deserts.

Home Studio and Garden Tour

May 16, 2025

Five of our members braved the early summer heat to visit Tanya Davis' home. Brunch was provided by Ruth Vaccaro, Wendell Graham, and Tanya. We had so much fun, we forgot to get a group photo!

Season Recap 2025-2026

The 2025-2026 season saw more opportunities for members to gather in person and build community. We are pleased to say that attendance and participation are growing!

    • We offered 8 classes at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sarasota, with 113 participants;
    • Our Annual Meeting this spring featured a Swap Meet;
    • We gathered for an in-person reception for our Fall online show, and we celebrated our spring show at Herrig Center for the Arts (formerly ArtCenter Manatee)- we had crowd come out to see our show in the brand new Herrig CFA building;
    • We met up for 10 field trips with 88 members in all! Destinations were 2 studio tours, Phillipi Estates, a tour of the new building at Herrig CFA, the Chihuly Museum, Sunken Gardens, the James Museum of Western Art, the Clyde Butcher exhibit, and back to Herrig to see the AWS Traveling Exhibition and Kathy Simon-McDonalds 15 Year Retrospective - with gallery talk! Last but not least, we got together for lunch out in Satellite Gatherings.
    • We enjoyed our second annual brown bag lunch at the FWS Convention and Trade Show in Orlando Florida;
    • We sponsored three awards for High School students;

Season Recap 2024-2025

The 2024-2025 season was our inaugural year offering classes and field trips.

  • We offered 7 demo events at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sarasota;
  • Our Annual Meeting this spring featured a special 2 hour demo;
  • We gathered for an in-person reception for our Fall online show, and we celebrated our spring show at ArtCenter Manatee;
  • We added field trips to our offerings, and we're looking forward to more of these!
  • We sponsored a special workshop at Venice Art Center;
  • We sponsored three awards for High School students;
  • And last but not least, our Northern Area members got together north of the Skyway.



We want to thank all of our hard working Board Members, Demo Artists, Volunteers, organizers, and those offering hospitality!
